My artifacts demonstrating this standard (What?)

Module 5 - Discussion of the effectiveness of my school's computer use policies.
In the discussion for the school's computer use policy, I posted the entire policy for class members to read. Our policy was written in 1998 and revised in 2007, it is in need of another update, to make sure that it includes the issue of digital citizenship and student and teacher responsibility.

Module 5 - Digital Citizenship Activity
If your district does not have a digital citizenship program, consider how you can create one for your students.

Austin does not have an organized digital citizenship program. Individual teachers address some of the issues with students but not on a consistent basis. As part of the Professional Learning Community that is being formed, adopting a digital citizenship program will be accomplished, along with what teachers will be presenting the information to what classes and when.

My Reflection on meeting this standard (So What?)

The use of the Creative Commons License demonstrates the goal for modeling and teaching legal and ethical practice related to technology use because
it shows that the work on my wiki is my own work and that it is important to have students and teachers be aware of the issues surrounding using the internet. It helps me model and teach legal and ethical practice related to technology use.

My discussion post on the effectiveness of my school's computer use policies represents all of the goals for this standard because it has forced me to look at our schools internet policy in-depth and know what to look for and add.

My Digital Citizenship Activiity represents the goal of promoting safe and healthy use of technology resources for this standard because we do not have a current program at school and it made look at possible programs.

My Future Learning Goals related to this standard (Now What?)

I will:
    • talk to the Superintendent about revising our Internet Policy.
    • adopt a Digital Citizenship Program for our teachers and students to use.
